Cryotherapy

The use of cryotherapy
What does cryotherapy entail and what is it?
In order to destroy the viral tissue, cryotherapy applies extremely cold temperatures to the skin. The verruca’s size and location determine how often and how long it freezes. A cryogen is sprayed on the verruca after it has been reduced using a scalpel. After freezing, a little blister or scab may develop. The process can be difficult because of the low temperatures used, and some discomfort is to be expected in the days after treatment.

What is the process of cryotherapy?
The verruca’s infectious cells are frozen and ruptured during cryotherapy. The virus is released into the bloodstream by the damaged cells, where the immune system can identify it.

What advantages does cryotherapy offer?
It is beneficial when other therapies, such as prescription / Pharmaceutical medications, have failed. Compared to surgery, this swift procedure is performed by the podiatrist and requires less aftercare.

How often do I have to come back?
Usually, several treatments are required at about monthly intervals; certain lesions may go away after two treatments, while others can still be there after ten. As with all verruca procedures, there is no assurance of effectiveness. If, after four sessions, the verruca is still not improving, this treatment might not appropriate for you. Instead, you should talk to your podiatrist about other options.
